St.Pius X church Dwarka

St. Pius X Church, Dwarka is one of the personal parishes established by His Grace, the Most Rev.Vincent M Concessao, the Archbishop of Delhi for the Syro-Malabar Catholics. As part of the fund raising activity for building a Church, we are planning to celebrate its Fourth anniversary in a befitting manner. On this auspicious occasion, the Parish is bringing out a Multi-Colour Souvenir. The Souvenir will have wide circulation among various sections of the society comprising Industrialists, Business/Service Classes Social activities and the Community Members in Delhi. We request you to kindly help us by endorsing an advertisement in the souvenir, as per format annexed herewith. Cheque/Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “Delhites Syro-Malabar Mission, Dwarka Unit”. Donations to Delhites Syro-Malabar Mission is eligible for exemption under section 80G of the Income tax Act.

About our Community

The Mass Centre at Dwarka was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. George Manimala, the then Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Delhi on 27th April, 2003. Since then Divine Liturgy is celebrated on all Sundays. In the same year, His Grace, Most. Rev. Vincent M Concessao, established six personal parishes for the Syro-Malabar Catholics living in the Archdiocese of Delhi. Dwarka-Palam-Janakpuri Mass Centres were raised to one of the personal parish and Rev. Fr. Shajan Puthenpura was appointed as its Parish Priest.

In 2005 Fr. Rajan Punnackal was appointed as Assistant Parish Priest. Dwarka was separated from Infant Jesus Parish and was raised to an independent Personal parish on June 15, 2005 and Fr. John Chozhithara was appointed as Parish Pries. In February, 2007. Fr.John Chozhithara was transferred and Rev. Fr. Kurian Kattakayam was appointed as the new Parish Priest.

About Delhi Mission

Syro-Malabar Catholics in Delhi were very few in the post independence era but migration increased by the late seventies. The pastoral care of Syro-Malabar faithful in the Archdiocese of Delhi was formally begun in 1991. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Vadakumpadan was appointed Chaplain of Syro-Malabar Catholics in the Archdiocese of Delhi by the then Archbishop Most Rev.Dr.Alan de Lastic.

It is estimated that there are around 1,00,000 (one Lakh) Syro-Malabar Catholics in the National Capital Region alone. After the Archdiocesan Synod in October 2002, the Archdiocese erected 6 personal parishes for the Syro-Malabar faithful in the year 2003. Thereafter, in June 2005, eight more personal parishes were erected in the National Capital Region of Delhi. In Dec.2004.Rev. Fr. Jose Edassery is appointed as the coordinator of the Syro-Malabar faithful in the Archdiocese of Delhi.
